Ingredients
For the Dough
- 1 cup warm milk (around 110°F / 43°C)
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Peach Filling
- 2 cups diced peaches (fresh, canned, or thawed frozen)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- For the Cream Cheese Glaze
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast
- Pour the warm milk into a bowl and stir in the yeast along with a small pinch of sugar. Let the mixture stand for about 5 minutes, or until it turns foamy on top. That foam indicates the yeast is active and ready to work.
- Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Add the foamy yeast mixture and stir to blend. Gradually incorporate the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for several minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and allow it to rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Mix the Filling
- In a separate bowl, toss the diced peaches with brown sugar and cinnamon until evenly coated. Set aside.
- Shape the Rolls
- Roll the risen dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the peach mixture evenly over the dough, distributing the fruit across the surface.
- Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving slight space between them. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes, until puffy.
- Bake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for approximately 25 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown and the centers are fully set.
- Make the Glaze
- While the rolls bake, beat together the cream cheese and softened butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy and spreadable.
- Finish and Serve
- Spread or drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the rolls while they are still warm. Serve immediately for the softest texture and richest flavor.
Notes
If your peaches release a lot of juice, mix them with a tablespoon of flour before spreading them onto the dough. This helps thicken the filling during baking and prevents excess liquid from pooling in the pan.
