Description

Looking for something hearty that hits the spot every single time? This mouthwatering patty melt blends the crispy magic of a grilled sandwich with the savory goodness of a classic beef burger. It’s the kind of meal that feels nostalgic, indulgent, and incredibly satisfying all at once.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter (add more if needed)
  • 6 slices white sandwich bread
  • 6 slices Colby-Jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Start by placing the ground beef in a large mixing bowl. Add in the parsley, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and steak seasoning. Stir well until the mixture is evenly combined. Divide the meat mixture into three portions and shape each into a patty.
  2. Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4–6 minutes per side until nicely browned and cooked through. For safety, ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C). Once done, transfer the patties to a plate and set aside.
  3. Heat a clean griddle or pan over medium. Spread butter on one side of every bread slice. Place three slices onto the hot surface with the buttered side facing down. Add a slice of cheese to each, followed by a beef patty, then another slice of cheese. Top each sandwich with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing up.
  4. Toast the sandwiches until the bread turns golden and crisp and the cheese becomes irresistibly gooey, about 6–10 minutes total. Flip halfway through for even browning.

Notes

Colby-Jack and white bread make a classic combo, but don’t be afraid to mix things up! Try sourdough, rye, or your favorite cheese to create a version that suits your personal cravings.
