Description
These gooey cereal bars capture everything people love about classic campfire s’mores—melty marshmallow, rich chocolate, and crunchy graham flavor—but without the fire pit. They come together quickly on the stovetop and set into soft, chewy squares that are perfect for parties, bake sales, or an easy homemade treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 21 ounces mini marshmallows, separated
- 8¼ cups Golden Grahams cereal, separated
- ¾ cup mini semisweet chocolate chips, separated
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or butter. Set it aside while you prepare the mixture.
- Melt the butter: Place a large saucepan on the stove over low heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt slowly, stirring occasionally.
- Create the marshmallow base: Add about 16 ounces of the mini marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir continuously until the marshmallows melt into a smooth, sticky mixture.
- Remove from heat: Once fully melted and smooth, take the pan off the burner.
- Mix in the cereal: Add 8 cups of Golden Grahams cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal pieces are evenly coated.
- Fold in extras: Add the remaining marshmallows along with ½ cup of the mini chocolate chips. Stir gently so the add-ins are distributed throughout the mixture.
- Transfer to the pan: Scoop the cereal mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press it down gently to form an even layer.
- Add the topping: Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup cereal and ¼ cup chocolate chips across the surface.
- Cool and slice: Allow the mixture to cool completely at room temperature. Once set, cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Golden Grahams cereal amount
- Some smaller cereal boxes contain only about 8 cups of cereal, so double-check the package size when shopping to ensure you have enough for the recipe.
Prevent sticking when pressing the bars
- If the mixture clings to your hands while pressing it into the pan, lightly spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray before handling it.
