- 4 small very ripe bananas or 3 medium bananas
- 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Peel the ripe bananas and mash them in a large mixing bowl until creamy.
- In a new bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar. Add eggs and vanilla to the same bowl, whisking all ingredients together.
- Add salt, sour cream, mashed bananas, and baking soda; combine the ingredients.
- Sift in the flour and cocoa powder, then add to the batter. Beat just until it comes together; avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into a 9×5 loaf pan and optionally top with more chocolate chips.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Enjoy your delightful Chocolatey Banana Bread!
