Buffalo wings are the ultimate game day treat—no doubt about it! In our opinion, a Super Bowl party just isn’t the same without a plate (or two) of these mouthwatering chicken wings ready to be enjoyed. And when it comes to the classic party snack, these buffalo wings take the crown.
To avoid the hassle (and the frying mess), we opt for baking our wings instead. They’re simple to prepare and still deliver that perfect combination of crispy, saucy, and caramelized goodness that we crave. Here’s what you need to know:
Crispy Buffalo Chicken Wings
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup hot sauce like Frank’s
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing for dipping
- Carrot sticks and celery sticks for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and place a wire rack over a baking sheet. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with oil and season them with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Then, transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the wings until they turn golden and the skin becomes crispy, which usually takes about 50 to 60 minutes. Remember to flip the wings halfway through for even cooking.
- While the wings are baking, prepare the buffalo sauce. In a small saucepan, whisk together the hot sauce and honey. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then stir in the butter. Let it cook until the butter melts and the sauce slightly thickens, which usually takes about 2 minutes.
- Once the wings are done baking, switch the broiler to low heat. Transfer the baked wings to a bowl and toss them with the buffalo sauce until they’re completely coated. Return the wings to the rack and broil them for about 3 minutes, keeping a close eye on them to ensure the sauce caramelizes just right.
- Serve your delicious buffalo wings with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping, along with some carrot and celery sticks for that classic touch. Enjoy the game with these tasty treats!
