Our new favorite frosting substitute is caramelized sugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--WPRM Recipe 33468-->\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n\t<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">Creme Br\u00fbl\u00e9e Sugar Cookies<\/h2>\n\t\t<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-equipment\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n\t\t<h4>**For the Cookies:**<\/h4><ul><li>3\/4 cup 1 1\/2 sticks butter, softened<\/li><li>1\/2 cup packed brown sugar<\/li><li>1\/2 cup granulated sugar<\/li><li>1 large egg<\/li><li>1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract<\/li><li>2 cups all-purpose flour<\/li><li>2 teaspoons cornstarch<\/li><li>1 teaspoon baking soda<\/li><li>1\/4 teaspoon kosher salt<\/li><\/ul><h4>**For the Frosting:**<\/h4><ul><li>1 8-ounce block cream cheese, softened<\/li><li>1 1\/4 cups powdered sugar<\/li><li>1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract<\/li><li>1\/4 cup granulated sugar<\/li><\/ul>\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n\t\t<ol><li>Preheat your oven to 350\u00b0F and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Cream together the butter and sugars until they&#8217;re light and fluffy, which should take about 3 to 4 minutes. Mix in the egg and vanilla.<\/li><li>In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Then, add this mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until everything is smooth. The dough will be thick.<\/li><li>Use a small cookie scoop to place tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the parchment-lined cookie sheets. Lightly press down on each cookie to flatten it slightly.
